Preparation of Strategic Plans and Management Plans for the Samsun 19 Mayıs and Costal Coasts

Master Plans and Management Plans were prepared for the 19 Mayıs Coast, approximately 20 km long and extending from the Horhor Stream east of the Samsun Kızılırmak protection area to Atakum Port, and for the Costal Coast, approximately 21 km long and extending between Samsun Airport and the Yeşilırmak delta to the Hürriyet district.

The Management Plans provide the methodology required for the existing land uses, public space values and problems along the Samsun coastline, and for their future management.

Addressing these 41 km of coastline within the whole city through integrated coastal planning, the work covers the delineation of landscape design areas, the identification of areas to be protected, the renewal and integration of the transport system, the identification and content of spatial uses, ensuring the conservation–use balance of the coasts and their environmental relationships, the identification of implementation zones and their interrelations, geological survey reports, a botanical report on protected plants, and the preparation of a new 15 km road project between the Çınarlı and Hürriyet districts.
